My Work

My work focuses primarily on functional pottery, with an occasional sculptural piece.  Using and combining various techniques, I create covered and open vessels of all sorts and sizes, cups, mugs, bowls, plates, vases, boxes, and the like.

Examples of my new 2007 line

Shell bowl, extruded, 5” wide, 3” high

Teal Jar, extruded and thrown, 24” high

Shallow extruded dishes

Flower holder wall hanger 9” tall

I like to visit nature for my texture. I use what ever happens to be “in season.”

Spring - rattlesnake grass and different weeds that are “going to seed; Summer - the maple leaves are getting bigger by the day;
Fall - the Acacia tree buds, an import from Australia, start to bud
Winter - the Acacia comes into full flower, fern finials erupt;
Anytime - evergreen branches, such as Redwoods

Mug with rasberry leaves, 5” high, impressed ceramic leaf, with stain and glaze, 5” wide

Shallow platter, impressed with coffee ferns, 18” wide, vase with acacia texture, green transparent glaze, 8” high

Acacia textured vase, 8” high, built INSIDE a thrown mold.  The mold is peeled away after creating the piece.
