B-Sides & Miscellaneous Songs
"(You) Can't Say Anything
Nice"
B-side on
the "Something to Believe In" 12" single (U.K.). Richie wrote a number
of songs, but this is the only one which he sang. An excellent song that
deserved to be on an album.
"Smash You"
"Street Fighting
Man"
B-sides on
the "Howling at the Moon" 12" single (U.K.). "Smash You" was written by
Richie, it is another great song that should have been on an album.
"Street Fighting Man" is a cover of the Rolling Stones song.
"Go Home Ann"
B-side on
the "Bonzo Goes to Bitburg" 12" single (U.K.). Mixed by Lemmy from Motorhead.
"Life Goes On"
"Indian Giver"
B-sides on
the "Real Cool Time" UK 12" single. "Indian Giver" was later included
on the RamonesMania compilation.
"(And) I Don't Wanna Live This Life"
Originally released on the "Crummy
Stuff" UK 12" single. Dee Dee wrote this song for the motion picture
Sid
And Nancy, but the song never made it into the film. It was recorded
during the Animal Boy sessions. Available on All The Stuff
(And More) - Vol. 2 and the Hey Ho Let's Go! Anthology.
"Merry Christmas (I Don't Want To Fight Tonight)"
- Extended
A b-side on the UK "I Wanna Live"
12" single. This version has drum intro and is slightly longer.
"California Sun" (1996
Version)
This is a
re-recorded version of the song which first appeared on their Leave
Home album. It can be found on the Music For Our Mother
Ocean album (1996, Surfdog/Interscope INTD-90062). Produced by
Daniel Rey.
"Chop Suey"
Found on the
Get
Crazy Original Motion Picture Soundtrack (1983) on Morocco Records.
Very difficult to find. The movie is available on videocassette,
however, just a short portion of the song is featured in the film.
"I Wanna Be Sedated (Ramones-On-45
Mega-Mix!)"
B-side on
the "I Wanna Be Sedated" 7" single, released in the U.S. on Sire Records.
This is a re-release in conjunction with the Ramones Mania album.
The Mega-Mix version includes samples of "Blitzkrieg Bop",
"Pinhead", and "Rock 'n' Roll High School" mixed in.
"R.A.M.O.N.E.S." (C.J.
vocal)
Bonus track
on the Japanese version of Adios Amigos. C.J.'s great singing and
a better mix make it superior to the version later found on Greatest
Hits Live, which was sung by Joey. Originally recorded by Motorhead
and found on their album 1916.
"It's A Long Way Back
To Germany"
This song
is a b-side on the UK "Do You Wanna Dance?" 7" single. This version
is unavailable on any album and features Tommy Ramone on drums. It
was re-recorded for the Road To Ruin album and the title was shortened
to "It's A Long Way Back."
"Babysitter"
This song was the b-side of the
"Do You Wanna Dance?" 7" single. It was also the song that replaced
"Carbona Not Glue" when it was removed from the UK version of Leave
Home. You can also find it on the compilation Attack Of The
Killer B's, Volume 1 (Warner Bros. Records 23837-1, 1983) and the Ramones'
All
The Stuff (And More) - Vol. 1.
"Howling At The Moon (Sha-La-La)" - Swedish
Remix
This remix has additional synthesizers
and drums, and is much longer than the original version. Released
on the Tandan Records label in 1985. Remixed by Anders Oredsson and
Olle Larsson at The Polar Studios in Stockholm. One source claims
this was an unauthorized remix which angered the band.

Other Albums/Singles/EPs
"I Wanna Be Your Boyfriend"/"Judy
Is A Punk" 7" single (Norton Records, 45-065)
Released in
1997, these demo versions are from the legendary Marty Thau sessions back
in 1975. Available from Norton
Records, Box 646, Cooper Station, New York, N.Y. 10003.
Judy's In The Basement - The 914 Sessions
(1975) 10 inch EP
Released by Hit & Run Records,
and made in East Berlin. The liner notes state that the songs were
produced by Tommy Erdelyi and recorded September 19, 1975 at 914 Studios,
Blauvelt, New York. It includes the songs:
Side A
"I Don't Wanna Go Down To The Basement"
"53rd & 3rd"
Side B
"I Wanna Be Your Boyfriend"
"Judy Is A Punk"
"Loudmouth"
Rock "N" Roll High
School Soundtrack
From the motion
picture of the same name. Ramones songs include:
"Rock 'n' Roll
High School"
"I Want You
Around"
"Come On Let's
Go" - a cover of the Richie Valens song, with the Paley Brothers supplying
the vocals.
A melody of
live songs featuring "Blitzkrieg Bop", "Teenage Lobotomy", "California
Sun", "Pinhead", and "She's The One".
"Rock 'n'
Roll High School" - sung by actress P.J. Soles, who played Riff Randle
in the movie. The music is very different than the Ramones version. I doubt
the Ramones played on this version of the song.
Ramones Talkin' Mondo
Bizarro Promo CD
What makes
this limited edition promo cd worth having is the interview with Joey.
In the interview, he talks about the band's history, his political views,
and their just-released album, Mondo Bizarro. It also contains four
live songs recorded on October 15, 1992 at the Hollywood Palladium: "Take
It As It Comes", "Censorshit", "Poison Heart", and "Strength to Endure"
.
"Ramones-You Don't Come Close"
Enhanced Audio and Visual CD Album
This enhanced CD contains songs
from a 1978 German television appearance. Footage from their appearance

NMC Music. The songs are:

Blitzkrieg Bop
Don't Come Close
I Don't Care
She's The One
Sheena is a Punk Rocker
Cretin Hop
Listen to My Heart
California Sun
I Don't Wanna Walk Around With You
Pinhead
"Ramones - Leathers From
New York" Sonic Book
This Italian
import is a CD case size book and a CD containing four songs. From
the lack of any copyright information, this appears to be an unofficial
release. The book, written by Vanni Neri and Giorgio Campani, features
a biography in both English and Italian, good photos, and an extensive
discography. If you can get past the poor English, misspelled words,
and writing lifted almost word for word from Jim Bessman's "Ramones: An
American Band" (1993, St. Martins Press), the book is worth reading.
Track Listing:
-
"Carbona Not Glue"
- Original studio version
-
"Blitzkrieg Bop"
(Live) - Undated, but probably 1976 or 1977
-
"Chop Suey"
- from the Get Crazy Motion Picture Soundtrack (hard to find)
-
"The Wonderful
Widow of Eighteen Springs" - From the John Cage tribute album Caged/Uncaged
(1993 - Cramps (Italy), CRSCD 097). On this bizarre song,
Joey chants over a very strange drum track. Note: this was a Joey
Ramone solo effort and did not feature the other Ramones.
"Carbona Not Glue" b/w
"I Can't Be" 7" Single
This appears
to be an official release by SubPop, but is instead a fake. The inserts
include the lyrics to the songs and a sticker. Worth having if only
for the great photo on the sleve.

(Rhino Home Video)
Released in
October, 1998, this video is a collection Marky's home videos featuring
13 live song and lots of backstage and tour footage. The live footage

"We're
Outta Here".
"Ramones: We're Outta
Here!" Video
(Radioactive Records)
In the U.S.,
this came packaged together with the "We're Outta Here!" compact disc,

early days, various television appearances, and much more.

Rock "N" Roll High
School (1979)
The Ramones
feature film debut starred P.J. Soles, Vincent Van Patten, and Clint Howard.
A humorous, fun movie with lots of scenes with the Ramones and great live
footage. It has been available on videocassette for some time, and
has recently been re-released on both videocassette and DVD. |
