  Beyond The Ramones:
Los Gusanos

C.J. Ramone's side project became his full-time gig after the Ramones called it quits.  Los Gusanos' music is hard rock/metal, and is very different than the Ramones.  The songs are great and should appeal to many Ramones fans.  In Los Gusanos, C.J. dropped the surname Ramone and instead used his real last name of Ward.

In March, 2000, Los Gusanos broke up.  Among the reasons cited were record company problems, revolving drummers, and the departure of guitarist Ed Lynch.

Los Gusanos were:

C.J. Ward - guitar and vocals
"Dirty" Ed Lynch - guitar
"Big John" Chadwick - bass
Adam (Griff) Griffin - drums

Ex-members:  Bo (Lefty) Matheson - drums
                   Frank "Spanky" Saitta - drums
                        Eric "Cochise" Arce - drums

European version      U.S. version

Their first album, Los Gusanos, was released in 1998 and contains the following songs:

  1. Bad Day
  2. Carve Your Name
  3. Helldorado
  4. Low
  5. Dead Mans Curve

Los Gusanos Live!!

C.J.'s band Los Gusanos was featured on L.A. Live.  For those of you that missed it, the show has been archived and is available via RealAudio at www.lalive.com.  The sound quality is not great, but is worth a listen.  Just don't expect it to sound like the Ramones.
