What is SWiCH?
A scientific breakthrough in dermal rejuvenation and a new approach to anti-aging
and cell renewal, SWiCH was developed by a highly respected M.D./researcher
in the field of cosmetic science. The SWiCH Dermal Rejuvenation System enhances
and restores skin to a youthful appearance through a liquid cell growth activator.
Elastin and collagen production is stimulated, dramatically softening lines
and wrinkles -- the skin appears and feels younger, firmer, and more even
in color.
How does SWiCH work?
For over 40 years chemical peeling and mechanical abrasion have been practiced
to rejuvenate or remodel aging and sun-damaged skin. The common thread tying
these methods together is the ability of the skin to heal itself when damaged.
All of these methods produce some degree of tissue destruction to incite the
natural repair process within the skin. With the SWiCH System, it is
possible to achieve repair of the skin without having to induce harmful tissue
damage.
What can I expect during treatment?
This natural repair system of the skin consists of the following four-step
process performed by your skin care professional:
1. Cleansing the skin with the SWiCH Hydrating Cleanser
to remove dead cells and excess oils.
2. Application of SWiCH Epiprep to allow increased penetration
of the SWiCH solution. Epiprep remains on your skin for 30 minutes; the solution
feels slightly warm to the skin.
3. Application of the SWiCH solution, a pyruvate-citric
acid complex that activates the repair cycle in the skin.
Immediately with application, your skin will feel hot for about 30 seconds
as the blood circulation to the skin's surface has increased. After
this subsides, the skin feels pleasantly warm.
4. Application of the SWiCH Fraction V, 30 minutes after
application of the SWiCH solution, to stimulate the immune system and help
accelerate healing. You will receive separate written instructions on
how to care for your skin during the next three days and will also receive
your home care products.
How long is each treatment?
Each session lasts approximately 1-1/4 hours. Unlike most acid-based treatments,
the SWiCH System is a leave-on system. The active ingredient remains to provide
continuous treatment for repair and restoration.
Is there any down time?
When you leave, your skin may be somewhat red; the next day your skin may
be just slightly red, as if you have a light sunburn. Skin will feel
tight and will have a sheen. Between three and five days your skin may
exhibit some or all of the following: flaking, a crepe-like appearance,
or the skin's just looking muddy. This is normal and occurs as the surface
skin cells prepare to slough off. I recommend using an enzyme peel
to aid in the sloughing off process.
How many SWiCH treatments are necessary and how often?
Six sessions at two to three-week intervals are necessary with four follow-ups
performed at monthly intervals (during which improvements in the skin continue);
then quarterly maintenance. Every skin is different and results vary
depending upon many factors. Approximately 80 percent of my clients are very
happy with their outcome and indicate the SWiCH System met or exceeded their
expectations. In the remaining 20 percent, in nearly all cases I could
see definite improvements but they were uncertain.
