Joshua H. Gordis is currently Associate Professor of Mechanical Engineering at the Naval Postgraduate School. He received a B.S.M.E. from the University of Vermont in 1983, and M.S. and Ph.D.degrees in Mechanical Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in 1987 and 1990, respectively.

He joined the Naval Postgraduate School in 1992, and currently teaches courses in machine design, vibration, static, dynamics, advanced dynamics, solid mechanics, system dynamics, structural dynamics, numerical analysis, and optimization. His research interests are in analytic, computational, and experimental structural dynamics, vibration, and shock.
