Who are we?

Gateway Industries, a division of Gateway Center, is located in the Sand City Industrial Park and provides vocational training and employment to developmentally disabled adults so they can achieve their vocational potential while also providing quality services to businesses along the Central Coast. The sheltered work environment assists the employees by increasing their income, improving their work skills and habits, and enabling them to participate in the community. The workshop also acts as a stepping stone for employees to eventually enter competitive employment in their communities.

• We can place a crew and supervisor in your business. We assume full responsibility for quality control and supervision. We also pay all wages, Workers Compensation, and liability insurance.

Our purpose . . .

Gateway Industries' purpose is twofold: To provide vocational training and employment to our developmentally disabled workers so they can achieve their vocational potential, and to to provide quality services to the community. The work we do for businesses becomes a vehicle for training. Individuals with developmental disabled include those with mental retardation, cerebal palsy, epilepsy, and autism.

Gateway Industries' philosophy is that all persons, regardless of their level of developmental disability, should have equal access to both integrated employment and community environments. Our primary goal is to enhance the quality of life for each individual we support, helping them to make choices towards living, working, and enjoying life with dignity and respect. We work to facilitate interactions with non-handicapped peers and to assist individuals with disabilities in leading normal lives.
