Sonlight Grade Level Colors
There is a different color for each level (year) of Sonlight's Instructor's Guide (IG). Many people have chosen to mark their Sonlight books with dots of the same color to help keep their books organized. Sonlight includes a peel-and-stick sheet of the appropriate color with the IG's so you can cut it up and make your own color stickers.
You can now order these from Sonlight. The code at the beginning of each line (2TBCL, etc.) is the item number to order a color peel-and-stick sheet. You can click on each link to go directly to the order page. The sheets cost a dollar each. If you want to mark the books you already own from earlier levels, here is a list of the colors.
WARNING: These stickers are permanent, and I do mean PERMANENT! If you will ever want to remove the color codes, don't use the labels from Sonlight. On the other hand, if you're tired of stationary aisle dots falling off, Sonlight's labels will be just what you want.

If you're going to mark books with dots (as I have--it's great) I've found the cheapie dots (KMart, Target, etc.) work better because the office supply store dots are removable (like Post-it notes) which means they pop right off the books! Best part about dots at our house is my kids now know if they traipse around the house with books to read, the one with a dot has to come back to mom's school bookcase OR ELSE! (Editor's note: If they don't have dots in the color you need, then invest in white dots and Crayola markers!)From: Katherine
I found a source for color-coding tape specifically designed for marking books. Presumably this means the tape will not come off easily and will not damage books. It does say that you can mark on the tape with marker or ballpoint pen. The tape is supplied by Vernon Library Supply and seems to come in most, if not all, of the colors SL uses to color-code their teaching manuals. I've ordered from Vernon before and have been very happy with their products and with their customer service.
