Landels-Hill Big Creek Reserve List of Fungal Genera

G. Hoffman, a UC Santa Cruz student, conducted a mushroom survey in January-March, 1981, a relatively dry year. Approximately 140 taxa were collected. Notes were made, spore prints and photos taken, and many identifications were verified by mycologists. However the extent of specimen verification was not recorded and it is not clear how reliable the identifications may be. The species' identifications must be considered indicative rather than definitive. Nevertheless, the survey documents a relatively complete survey of the mushroom community as it appeared in the winter of 1981. A manuscript and complete set of notes are on file at the reserve, and the species list may be found in the Big Creek Plant List excel workbook.
