This map does not include the 1985 Rat-Gorda fire, which burned the entire map area, nor does it include the 1999 Kirk fire, which burned most of the map area except the coastal slope. This map was prepared using US Forest Service records, newspapaer files, and field investigations of fire-scarred trees by Greenlee and Hart (1979).
