When in the course of human events it becomes obvious that the social structures no longer support the welfare of the society, it is the responsibility of concerned citizens to so alter their government, laws, and accompanying social structures in a manner necessary to correct the problems and ensure that the structures return to their rightful place of effectively serving society.
Where possible, this should be accomplished via peaceful means. However, if the structures persist in their wrongful practices and violation of the welfare of the society, then whatever means are necessary must be used and should be used to right the situation swiftly and justly.
At present, the structures of which I speak are companies; in particular, large companies ... who operate by rules far different than their small business counterparts.
The owners of these companies are the true power brokers; not only in this country, but in the world at large. Virtually every politician is beholden to these masters. These people fund the campaigns, they choose who will run from both parties, and ultimately they decide how you will vote, literally by buying the advertisement time needed to sway your vote. Further, they hedge their bets, funding candidates from both parties so that their interests are taken care of regardless of who actually wins.
Now, the sad part. YOU fund this activity. It is paid for by the profits (actually, maybe even the operating expenses) from the companies whose products or services you consume. Effectively, you are being taxed by paying higher prices than you would have to otherwise pay, specifically to allow these owners to wield their power without representing your interests at all!
If this were being done by the government, as was the case 220 years ago, it would be enough to incite revolution, and rightly so. But are not these corporate owners the equivalent of Kings in our current society? Yet we allow them to reign supreme under the righteousness of "free enterprise". Give me a break? Power exerted to usurp freedom is WRONG. It is as wrong NOW as it was at the time this country declared it's independence. Having people in society with such a greater vote than yours, even if they never visit a polling booth is simply not fair. It is not democratic, it is aristocratic! And, IT MUST CHANGE! We, the people, have the power to change it and we must exert that power.
In the last presidential election, the phrase "IT'S THE ECONOMY, STUPID" was highly prominent. Little did either candidate know exactly how important it was. This country is headed for a date with destiny that will require that both our government and our economic system provide infrastructures that truly support the full expression of our spirit. The changes required to get there are numerous and drastic. But we will indeed make them, because we must. Our very freedom is at stake.
