PART ONE: THE INNER YOU
In Part One of the interpretations you will read two sections concerned with your individual traits.
The first section describes your ego (sun), emotional make-up (moon), learning and intellectual orientation (Mercury), relationships and sociability (Venus), and the expression and focus of your physical energy (Mars).
The second section describes how well you deal internally with the external situations that you experience in life. Your capacity for happiness (Jupiter), ability to tolerate restrictions and frustrations (Saturn), how you are associated with or relate to new or innovative ideas and methods, and radical ideas and events that upset the status quo (Uranus), how you are associated with or affected by public ideals, morality, and spirituality (Neptune), and how you are associated with or affected by public policies toward crime, toward the power of government and industry, and toward exploration, development, conservation and distribution of natural resources (Pluto).
SUN
The sun rules will power and ego. It is the core of your potential and uniqueness as an individual; who you are and what you are about. It represents the main direction and focus you want your life to take, and your determination to accomplish what you set out to do. It is your personal honesty and integrity, and the ability to command respect and authority, to impress and influence others.
SUN in CANCER
As the fourth sign of the zodiac, Cancer represents the fourth stage in the evolution of man and his place in the universe. In Cancer the need is not one of individual survival as it was in the first three signs. Here, it is eternal survival through perpetuation of the species. It is the sign of fertility and nurture, and Cancerians have strong identification with these matters in one form or another. It doesn't mean all of them are good cooks or efficient housekeepers, but they all want to feel part of a family. They enjoy feeding others as much as they enjoy feeding themselves. They are also ready to supply emotional nurturing by "mothering" everyone who appears to be in need. When upset, they tend to use food as consolation, which in turn, results in problems with excess weight. As an offshoot of their sense of familial relationships, they often develop an interest in genealogy and history in general.
Cancerians are doers. They set out to accomplish things and, one way or another, they want to obtain their goals. In spite of their emotional sensitivity, they are strong-willed and have no trouble expressing what they want, then finding a way to get it. The Crab is their astrological symbol and there are certain crab-like gestures directly associated with the behavior of Cancerians. Just as the crab walks sideways rather than straight ahead, Cancerians use an indirect approach in accomplishing their goals. Rather than direct confrontation or request, they are more apt to resort to using emotional appeal. For example, they will get others to cooperate by making them feel like part of a family. At the slightest provocation or threat the crab quickly hides in the sand or retreats into a shell until safer times are at hand. Cancerians who feel threatened or suspect that their attempts may be unsuccessful, often hide their true ambitions until a more comfortable situation occurs.
Cancerians react emotionally to everything they experience in life. That is, before they take physical action, before they sort out the practicality of what they are doing, and before they reason things out intellectually, they must express their feelings. They wear their hearts on their sleeves. Many Cancerians succeed in life because their genuine concern for the welfare of others inspires loyalty as well as cooperation.
The Moon, celestial guardian of human emotions, rules Cancer. The biggest struggle for Cancerians is to avoid becoming prisoners of their own emotions. Though they can be outwardly gregarious, they are shy and secretive about their personal matters. However, once they feel comfortable in a situation or relationship, they relax and completely open up even to the point of dominating the situation. Not usually ones to suffer in silence, they have to make an effort not to inflict their moods and endless recitations of their feelings or emotional troubles on others. Once they learn to keep excess emotions in control, their intuition can be remarkably accurate. Their emotional insecurity makes them want to hang on to things. They hate to throw anything away, and many end up avid collectors, conservators, and savers of string. It is equally difficult for them to give up on failed relationships, and still harder for them to learn the difference between caring and possessiveness. When they receive criticism, even constructive criticism, they tend to take it as a personal indictment instead of using it to attain personal growth and maturity.
Participation in physical fitness or sports activities becomes an important, often vital way for Cancerians to work out their emotional stress. They are especially adaptable to team sports since they tend to view their team members as part of a family-like group. Favorite Cancerian sports are swimming, fishing, sailing and other water activities. They also enjoy skiing, ice skating, and mountain climbing. Cancerians are creative. Even those who may not have a particular talent can use some type of involvement with art, music, or writing as another method of emotional release, instead of indulging in eating binges or other destructive habits. Living or spending time near the water is a relaxing, as well as creatively stimulating environment for Cancerians.
Cancer colors are white, silver, and pale yellow. Vulnerable parts of the body are the breasts and stomach. Stomach aches, food allergies, and hysterics are the usual afflictions of Cancerians. Cancer rules silver, and the ruby as well as the pearl are considered Cancerian birthstones. The surroundings of a beautiful piece of silver are reflected in its shiny polished surface. Similarly, the emotionally sensitive nature of Cancerians tends to reflect the people and circumstances surrounding them. The ruby, a variety of corundum, is one of the hardest minerals known, while the pearl is soft and easily scratched. These gems uniquely illustrate the two contrasting sides of the Cancerian personality; hard and determined as well as soft and vulnerable. Cancerian flowers are the water lily (lotus), iris, poppy (white), carnation (white) and southern magnolia.
MOON
The moon rules desire as opposed to ego, need as opposed to expediency or reason. It describes how you feel about yourself, how you handle relationships, and how you emotionally respond to situations and experiences. It describes the flow of your daily functions; physical, emotional, and mental. The moon represents your residence and domestic environment. It rules babies and young children, your mother and other important females in your life.
MOON in SAGITTARIUS
Those born with the moon in a Fire sign want to turn their feelings into physical experiences. They do not initially view their desires from the standpoint of practicality, emotional commitment, or as lessons to be learned. Before anything else there has to be action, some form of instant physical gratification. As lunar Fire sign personalities, those born with moon in Sagittarius are idealistic and romantic. Their risk-taking, adventurous spirit and magnanimous generosity are a curse as well as a blessing. It leaves them vulnerable to those who exploit their generosity, but it is also the combination of spirit and attitude needed for enormous success in enterprises that more cautious people would be afraid to try. They are open and honest with a tendency to be too candid at times, especially in situations that require a more diplomatic approach. Impatience can be the biggest stumbling block to success. They are not reluctant to make long-term emotional commitments, but relationships or situations that do not encourage them to retain a certain amount of personal freedom, are not likely to last long.
Sagittarius moon personalities are emotionally adaptable to changing circumstances and different relationships. A duality of nature makes them appear fickle and emotionally insecure while at the same time, steadfast, and independent. Readily impressed by those with power and status, they seek to associate with such people to increase their own advancement; one of their main goals in life. Concerned with making an impression on others, they may be guilty of inflating their knowledge and importance. Attracted to architecture, art and design many of them also have talent for mimicry and acting. For these lunar personalities, the best opportunities are in writing, teaching, performing, sales, education and communication.
Women with Sagittarius moon make better friends than lovers, though their restlessness may lead to many sexual adventures. Friendship is very important to them and their temperament is not well suited to domestic life. Men with Sagittarius moon are inveterate chasers of the ideal woman. Their emotional nature is uncomplicated, loyal, and at times, amazingly prophetic.
MERCURY
Mercury indicates mental outlook, intellectual endeavors, the way you think and communicate. It represents ideas, methods, and information. It rules your hands and thus your manual dexterity and mechanical skills. Mercury also describes transportation; that is, how you get where you're going physically and mentally. Do you speed with all possible haste or amble along taking a few detours here and there?
MERCURY in GEMINI
Individuals with Mercury in Gemini have a greater-than-average mental orientation. They deal with thoughts and ideas rather than feelings and attitudes. Ideas and thoughts flow with amazing rapidity but they may lack concentration. The slightest distraction can knock out their line of thinking and send them off in entirely new directions. In Gemini, Mercury indicates originality of thought and persuasive powers of articulation. However, these individuals can lack depth of perception and have no patience for detailed analysis. All areas of communication attract them. They are apt to have quick and merry wits, musical talent, mechanical skills, and the ability to mimic the characteristics of others. They like to keep busy (physically as well as mentally), constantly on the go and involved with a myriad of errands and projects all at the same time. Their manner of learning and getting from place to place is liable to be erratic and unpredictable.
VENUS
Venus rules your social attitudes and behavior, and your aesthetic tastes and inclinations. It is female relationships and social interactions at every level. Venus indicates your values. It describes romance, marriage and other partnerships, capacity for humor, and the pursuit of pleasure.
VENUS in GEMINI
Individuals with natal Venus in Gemini are some of the most accomplished flirts in the zodiac. It would be a mistake to accuse them of being emotionally shallow because other factors can more accurately account for the depth of their emotional commitment. However, in purely social situations, these individuals are remarkably adept. The influence of Gemini indicates their physical pleasure in relationships is never as great as the intellectual stimulation derived from them. Excellent speakers and ad-libbers, their social instincts are more geared to sharing ideas and picking up all kinds of interesting information than intense physical or emotional encounters. They find inspiration in maintaining a wide variety of relationships with people from different backgrounds and experiences.
MARS
Mars rules physical energy and efforts. It describes the strength and direction of the physical force that drives your ego, fires your emotions, and encourages your mental endeavors and communicative skills. It describes male relationships and associations, risk-taking inclinations, and the physical challenges you are likely to encounter.
MARS in GEMINI
The energy of individuals with Mars in Gemini is oriented to organizing, disseminating, and creating ideas and information. The varied and widely-scattered interests that can command their attention tend to keep them quite physically active as they hop from one project to another. Doing more than one thing at a time is second nature, and they constantly attend meetings, write letters, chat on the phone, travel, or run errands. Whether or not they follow through with ideas and activities is dependent on other factors in their individual natal chart. Organizing and limiting their activities minimize the potential for nervousness and irritability. Many of them are avid readers, excellent teachers, mechanically inclined, or artistically skilled.
JUPITER
Jupiter rules your potential for growth and expansion on many levels; physical, intellectual, spiritual, cultural, and the accumulation of material assets, power, and status. It describes your optimism and aspirations. It represents your father and his position in society.
JUPITER in CAPRICORN
Individuals with natal Jupiter in Capricorn can be overly concerned with how things are done rather than what is done. Lack of inspirational factors in their development and background forces many of them to gain understanding and wisdom through their own experiences and maturity. Growth and expansion in life is rarely a matter of haphazard luck or whimsy. Through fortune or circumstances they are forced to keep track of where they have been, where they are at present, and where they want to go.
SATURN
Saturn rules responsibilities, restrictions and limitations you are apt to encounter, and the lessons you must learn in life. It does not deny or diminish imagination, inspiration, spirituality, and good fortune but it does demand that these things be given structure and meaning.
SATURN in ARIES
Individuals with natal Saturn in Aries are invariably faced with the consequences of their actions. They do not usually have the luxury of leaving their actions and reactions up to pure instinct. They are frustrated when they do not succeed because they acted spontaneously. Frustration increases on other occasions when they deliberately move at a slower pace and still fail, realizing too late that they should have acted sooner. Success becomes a matter of learning to control their physical, mental, and emotional reactions, an ability that can only be developed through maturity and experience.
URANUS
Uranus rules personal as well as societal freedom. It indicates originality of thought and expression. In society it rules radical ideas and people as well as revolutionary events that upset established structures. Uranus takes approximately seven years to transit one sign, taking about 84 years to complete all twelve signs. Since groups of people with Uranus in the same sign are separated by 84 years, the influence of this planet in a sign is generational. The personal implications of Uranus in your life are described by its house position and the aspects it makes with other planets in your natal chart. It describes areas of unpredictability, and where you or your life style may be different than those around you. It relates to the unusual or unique. Friends and associations to which you belong are also indicated, as is your potential involvement with science and technology, computers, and the media.
URANUS in AQUARIUS
The generation of individuals born with natal Uranus in Aquarius deal with emancipation and independence. They seek to overcome restrictions imposed by traditional institutions and concepts. Individuals and institutions that fail to make changes to accommodate the new wave will be discarded. However, that which is perceived as having enduring value will be treasured and uplifted to new heights.
NEPTUNE
Neptune rules those who are oppressed or abandoned; the misfits of society. On a higher level it rules visionaries, and those who are glamorous and charismatic. It represents spirituality, mysticism, and ideals. Neptune is in one sign for approximately thirteen years, taking about 164 years to complete its cycle through all twelve signs. Since 164 years separate people born during its transit of one sign and those born when it returns, Neptune's significance in any sign is described as generational or historical. On a personal level, Neptune's house position and the aspects it makes with other planets in your natal chart will describe spirituality, abstract thinking, illusion, disillusionment, and other areas of your life where things aren't always what they seem. It rules derangement, guilt, persecution, and describes the potential for experiences related to confinement, abandonment, and addiction or physical intolerance to drugs.
NEPTUNE in CAPRICORN
NeptuneÕs last period in Capricorn was 1820-1834 and its current transit is 1984 -1998. Capricorn rules conservatism and Neptune brings extremist tendencies. The 1800's witnessed the "era of Metternich, " the powerful, very conservative Austrian statesman. Conservative tendencies in France were accentuated when Charles X gained the throne. In Great Britain the conservative Tory faction maintained control. The conservative mood in America under Ronald Reagan and continuing under George Bush is evidence of the present influence of Neptune in Capricorn.
PLUTO
Pluto takes approximately 248 years to make one cycle through all twelve signs. The period Pluto spends in each sign can vary from twelve years to thirty two years due to the eccentricity of its orbit. Like atomic energy (a force ruled by Pluto), the presence and direction of Pluto's energy are never obvious until it is used. PlutoÕs influence in any sign is interpreted as generational or historical. In your personal life, Pluto's significance is interpreted from its house position and the aspects it makes to other natal planets in your horoscope. Pluto rules intense energy, and describes the areas in which you consciously or subconsciously seek to exercise power or control. Pluto is also linked to your karmic responsibility, and in this respect, it describes the areas where you must gain the deepest level of understanding.
PLUTO in SAGITTARIUS
Pluto's last period in Sagittarius was 1749-1762. Pluto will not transit Sagittarius until the next century, but its great energies can be seen in the Enlightenment which occurred during its transit in the 1700's. There were great advances in scientific and political thought, a proliferation of newspapers, and higher education became available to a wider spectrum of social classes.
PART TWO: THE OUTER YOU
In Part Two you will read about the twelve houses of the horoscope. The houses represent areas of life in which you operate on a daily basis. You will read descriptions of how you handle the circumstances you encounter in each of these areas, according to your nature, personality and other traits as they are outlined in Part One.
HOUSE 1
The first house and the sign that rules the first house, which is also known as the Ascendant or Rising sign, describes your outer personality and physical attributes. To some extent it also describes your health and the type of illnesses you may experience.
SCORPIO ASCENDANT
A Scorpio Ascendant indicates individuals who are likely to have strong physiques and tremendous physical stamina. They are often far more stubborn than they seem on the surface, and assiduously stick to their goals as long as they feel there is a chance they will be successful. It is difficult to convince them to change their minds once their decisions are made.
They are emotionally oriented, but their emotional vulnerability is apt to be hidden unless their natal sun or moon happens to be in Cancer or Pisces. They are are friendly and while some are rather quiet, many of them also have far more gregarious personalities and don't mind being in the spotlight. Rarely do these individuals possess the sinister or mysterious personalities that popular literature tends to associate with the sign of Scorpio. They are keen observers and shrewd speculators.
Scorpio is ruled by Pluto and, secondarily, by this sign's ancient ruler, the planet Mars. Both planetary influences may be seen in the personalities of these individuals. They are ambitious, energetic, and seek activities that are economically rewarding, as well as mentally or physically challenging. The jealousy associated with Mars and Pluto is minimal unless other factors in their individual personalities support such a trait. Many of them possess the cleverness and mechanical ability associated with Mars, as well as the innate resourcefulness associated with Pluto. They are attracted to others with strong, magnetic personalities. They are oriented toward gathering resources of all kinds. For example, many of these individuals consciously or subconsciously tend to establish relationships with strong or powerful people in the belief such contacts may prove useful to them in some way. They can be quite secretive about personal affairs, a trait that often escapes the attention of most people they meet. They are often so accommodating and pleasant that, unless others make serious attempts to probe beneath their surface, their real personalities and activities stay hidden indefinitely.
They have remarkable recuperative powers that allow them to recover from physical, mental or economic adversities that would destroy many others. When properly focused, their energy is formidable and they quietly keep going long after everyone else runs out of steam. A Scorpio Ascendant indicates potential for afflictions to the head and face as well as illnesses affecting the reproductive organs.
PLUTO in 1st HOUSE
Pluto in the first house indicates those who are intensely aware of themselves. Apt to be quiet and unassuming, these individuals also possess personal magnetism. Some of them choose to develop their personal magnetism to great advantage, while others allow it to lie dormant. Though they are likely to enjoy being surrounded by very powerful people, they may show little evidence of wanting to project a similar image of power themselves. Outwardly these individuals are often so pleasant and accommodating that, unless others make a serious attempt to probe beneath the surface, the intensity and depth of their personality stays hidden. When strongly motivated however, the energy and stamina they exhibit is fierce. They are highly resourceful, and can develop remarkable powers of recuperation and survival.
MOON in 1st HOUSE
Moon in the first house indicates individuals with personal magnetism as well as personal ambition. In spite of this, they are emotionally vulnerable and can be highly influenced by others. Their personality and even their physical appearance are subject to constant change. They may, for example, adopt the latest fashions or mode of behavior to assure themselves of being accepted. To cover up any real or perceived weakness in themselves, they are apt to follow one of two paths. Either they work twice as hard as anyone else usually becoming very successful in the bargain, or, they avoid failure by not doing anything at all. They may be successful and competent individuals on the outside but they need continual reassurance on an emotional level. They are apt to be guided or assisted in life by women, or one female in particular. Even so, they constantly seek advice from one source or another.
MOON opposite VENUS
Moon opposite Venus implies those who tend to be disappointed in relationships. Though not necessarily antisocial, they may by choice or circumstances, lead a solitary existence. Direct negotiations break down and strategy often goes awry. Dealing with things is easier for them than dealing with people. Negative factors in their personalities mean rudeness or careless disregard for the rights of others. Positive influences in their personalities and backgrounds can soften or mitigate the negative traits implied.
MOON opposite MARS
Moon opposite Mars indicates those likely to harbor anger and frustration. They are forever running into situations in which no compromise is possible and thus no solution. Emotional tension results in unnecessary accidents and even deliberate physical confrontations. Insensitivity and aggression creep into relationships, and it's always too little too late when they try to patch things up. Strong positive elements in their personalities and backgrounds can help overcome some of the negative influence of this aspect.
MOON trine SATURN
Moon trine Saturn is an altogether agreeable aspect for most of the individuals who inherit it. It implies recognition of their talents and achievements and reaping the rewards for which they have worked. Their emotional lives are apt to be just as fortunate, since they inspire stable, long lasting relationships. When they need help and guidance they get it and in return, are willing to help others succeed.
MOON sextile URANUS
Moon sextile Uranus is often an indication of those with marked intelligence or at least great cleverness. They may never be prepared to take advantage of relationships or opportunities because their occurrence is unpredictable. But their intelligence, or in some cases their emotional instincts, are likely to be more than adequate to help them take advantage of valuable opportunities when they do come along.
MOON conjunct PLUTO
Moon conjunct Pluto indicates those with definite likes and dislikes, and no trouble expressing their desires when it comes to going after what they want. They do not accept rejection easily, which in any case may not occur too often since many of them develop formidable personal magnetism that few can resist. Subconsciously or consciously they seek to control relationships, and if there are negative factors in their personalities to support it, they can become jealous and possessive. They are excellent psychologists, researchers, and investigators.
HOUSE 2
The second house describes material assets, how you handle monetary income, and the potential ways it may be earned. It also indicates the values and priorities you establish throughout life.
SAGITTARIUS on 2nd HOUSE
Sagittarius ruling the second house indicates those who would very much like to succeed on their own. They may work for others but would rather work for themselves. They value independence, especially in monetary matters, and will thrive on the challenge involved in making their own fortunes. The Sagittarian influence is no guarantee they will end up being self-employed, or that even those who are self-employed will be successful. It is however, an indication that their income may be derived through travel or trade in foreign goods and services, consulting, publishing, theater, education, sports, or religion. The negative potential of Sagittarius ruling the second house, includes the possibility of individuals who marry strictly for monetary gain or acquire money or property through dishonest means, or individuals who become victims of such circumstances. The influence of Sagittarius does not necessarily imply great wealth or luck in monetary matters or inhibit the opportunity for it. But there is implication that these individuals are very generous with the potential tendency to spend great sums of money and to waste money as well as other resources.
JUPITER in 2nd HOUSE
Jupiter in the second house indicates those who like to succeed on their own. Whether or not they actually succeed is not indicated solely by JupiterÕs position in the second house. These individuals value independence, especially in monetary matters, and, if not discouraged by negative factors in their personality or background, they thrive on the challenge of making their own money. Negative factors can include those who marry for money, and individuals who either acquire money and property through dishonest means, or become victims of those who do. The influence of Jupiter in the second house suggests opportunity to travel or trade in foreign goods and services as a means of livelihood. Other possible sources of income include consulting, publishing, theater, sports, education, or religion. Jupiter in the second house does not always indicate wealth or luck in monetary matters, but it invariably means generosity and the potential for spending money lavishly and wasting other material and non-material resources. They value knowledge even though they may not be scholars. Jupiter also implies they may receive financial help in attaining education and/or may be the ones to aid others in this respect.
HOUSE 3
The third house describes your mental state, intellectual orientation, self-expression and communication, early education, mechanical dexterity and skills, immediate environment (neighborhood), and siblings. It indicates physical actions, and transportation, especially within your immediate environment. To a certain extent the third house also describes the job or health of your father.
CAPRICORN on 3rd HOUSE
Capricorn ruling the third house indicates individuals whose learning processes or communicative skills may be limited or frustrated, or their education is limited. It implies the possibility of lack of imagination, reluctance of verbal expression, learning disabilities, and sight, hearing, or speech impediments. These individuals may view educational tasks as unpleasant or tedious, but later in life they may be more receptive, even eager, to learn and to communicate their thoughts and ideas. Another area influenced by Capricorn on the third house involves relationships with siblings. It can mean, for example, a great age difference between these individuals and their siblings and the relationships are necessarily limited by the generation gap, or it can mean they may have responsibility for a sibling. Another common occurrence under Capricorn's influence is an extremely close relationship with a sibling that fosters too much dependence in one or both of them. Relationships with neighbors may be restricted. The positive side of CapricornÕs influence implies long and stable relationships with neighbors and siblings, as well as talent and organizational ability in dealing with ideas and information.
NEPTUNE in 3rd HOUSE
Neptune in the third house indicates those who are highly intelligent. They are, however, also apt to be mentally lazy, unwilling to explore areas of thought and ideas that appear to be too much work. They are not very anxious to be around strangers and people with whom they are not well acquainted. They enjoy watching others while remaining hidden or unobserved themselves. NeptuneÕs third house influence includes potential for the fatherÕs occupation to be in the navy, maritime industry, chemistry, photography, footwear, religion, medicine, psychology, or areas that involve those who are disabled, institutionalized, or minorities. The father may suffer from hypochondria or hard-to-diagnose illnesses. Neptune in the third house includes individuals who form particularly sensitive, perhaps clairvoyant, relationships with their siblings, and those who experience untimely loss of siblings. The neighbors or siblings of these individuals may be involved with drugs or other illegal activities. Other potentials of NeptuneÕs influence include those who suffer mental confusion, and those who rely too heavily on alcohol or other drugs to calm their fears and insecurities. It is necessary for these individuals to spend periods of time in a quiet, non-threatening environment. They may derive special benefit from being near the ocean. They often use pet names or aliases for themselves or their friends. Negative factors in their personality or background can cause them to develop fear of water, or fears that prevent them from going very far outside their own neighborhood.
NEPTUNE sextile PLUTO
Neptune sextile Pluto is an aspect of extremely long duration. The current sextile between these two planets has been affecting generations for the last forty years. This long term Neptune aspect influences on society represents constant opportunities to change the course of existing structures and pave the way for new ones. Those who will live under the influence of the other aspects (i. e. , conjunction, square, trine, and opposition) as they occur between these planets in the future will have to deal with the ideologies and other societal institutions that we have had the opportunities to create.
URANUS in 3rd HOUSE
Uranus in the third house indicates those with a keen intellect, though its manifestations can be highly unpredictable. It is difficult for these individuals to use or communicate what they learn unless they practice retention, develop organization, and eliminate distractions. Taking tests can also be difficult. They want to convey what they know rather than what others require them to know. Likely to be very adept and self-taught individuals, they enjoy interesting trivia and knowledge of odd and unusual subjects. Their intellectual and physical reactions to stimuli are immediate. However, consistency and a steady rhythm are difficult to maintain. Unpredictable, jerky movements can make them very clumsy, and in some cases, accident prone. In the structured routine of classroom instruction they grow restless. They find it hard to sit still for long periods even when being entertained. If subjected to long-winded sermons or boring lectures, they are sure to head for the nearest exit. For all their jumpiness and unpredictability, they have remarkable mental poise. Rarely frightened or upset by unusual situations or people, these individuals often have a very calming influence on others who are mentally distressed or hysterical. Eagerly receptive to new ideas and methods, they also come up with ingenious ideas and clever solutions of their own. Separation from siblings is a strong likelihood. Plans often develop complications or go awry for one reason or another, usually due to circumstances for which these individuals are not responsible. As if to make up for being unable to plan ahead, they can do things spontaneously or at the last minute with relative ease.
URANUS conjunct NEPTUNE
The conjunction of Uranus and Neptune takes place approximately every 171 years, the last occurrence being in 1821. This planetary pattern is of major importance in discussing the conditions of society during the year it takes place, but by itself it has little significance in an individualÕs horoscope. The conjunctionÕs personal significance may be interpreted to a certain extent according to the natal house in which it is found and also if it happens to make any close aspects to other natal planets. On a societal level the aspect is associated with turbulent change in ideals. Among other things, Uranus represents revolution and Neptune represents oppression and slavery. To further define at least the last two Neptune-Uranus conjunctions which occurred in Capricorn, one must remember that Capricorn represents the government. In 1821 the Greek War of Independence began against the Ottoman Turks. Independence was declared by Mexico, Venezuela, Peru, Costa Rica, Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, and Panama. In the present century independence occurred again, this time in Russia. There is no doubt that countless lives are affected on a personal level by these great revolutions. Babies born during a Uranus-Neptune conjunction will live under radically different governments and societal conditions than their parents.
URANUS sextile PLUTO
Uranus sextile Pluto only applies to those born in the mid-1940's. Its influence is generational and implies motivation and opportunities in science (especially atomic energy), technology, and medicine. Born into a generation that had just exploded the first atom bomb, their lives are affected by the problems connected with atomic energy, but positively influenced by advancement in medicine, computers and other technological inventions and innovations.
HOUSE 4
The fourth house describes your residence, domestic environment, and family members, especially your mother. It indicates the beginning as well as the end of various cycles in your life.
AQUARIUS on 4th HOUSE
Aquarius ruling the fourth house indicates the likelihood of unpredictable or unusual situations regarding childhood, a parent, and adult home life. These individuals are apt to live a very different lifestyle or in a different place or area than the one in which they were brought up. This may be a deliberate choice, but it can also be the result of circumstances beyond their control. They are apt to spend a certain period of time living under abnormal or unusual conditions. They tend to favor unusual designs and architecture and many of them enjoy building their own homes. Inside their houses their preferences are either antiques and an assortment of odd or interesting furnishings and designs, or very contemporary, futuristic styles. In many cases they enjoy mixing the very old with the very new in unusual eclectic arrangements. Everyone is welcomed into their homes as a friend, and their residences are apt to be favorite gathering places for groups and organizations to which they belong.
HOUSE 5
The fifth house describes your creative talent and imaginative powers, capacity for enjoyment and the pursuit of pleasure, romance, children, and speculative ventures.
PISCES on the 5th HOUSE
Pisces ruling the fifth house indicates the likelihood of secret romance. Other possibilities include individuals who indulge in, or are victims of romantic deception. They may become romantically involved with someone of a minority group, or who is disabled, addicted to drugs or alcohol, or works in medicine, the navy, maritime industries, or areas that involve the feet which means anything from being a dancer to working in a shoe store. It is also possible that their children (or lovers) may have remarkable artistic talent. They may suffer the loss of children, or have to assume responsibility for the adoption or care of children. There is danger of deception and loss in speculative ventures. Though it is also possible, if supported by other factors in their personalities and backgrounds, that they can develop valuable intuition in this area. If this is the case, they may be very lucky gamblers, but should never take their good fortune for granted. Vacations should be spent on ocean cruises or at least near water, especially the ocean.
SATURN in 5th HOUSE
Saturn in the fifth house indicates those whose lessons in life involve children, romance, pursuit of pleasure, speculative ventures, and the use of creative talent. Saturn's restrictive influence does not necessarily indicate lack of offspring. It implies that relationships with young children may be burdened with too much somberness or formality. However, as these children mature, relationships with them may become more satisfying. Death or separation from their spouse may thrust the entire parental responsibility for children on these individuals. Self-indulgence and the pursuit of pleasure are sure to be penalized. Romance requires commitment. Even when commitment is not necessary, their romantic encounters are seldom free of inhibitory factors somewhere along the line. Social activities are often undertaken as much for business purposes as for simple enjoyment. Gambling is seldom a good idea for these individuals. When good luck does come along, it must never be taken for granted. The best philosophy is to take the money and run. Artistic or creative talent may be limited or nonexistent. Those who do possess such a gift, may have difficulty developing or gaining recognition for it. Maintaining a healthy, balanced perspective and determined attitude in all that has just been described, brings these individuals well-earned joy and success.
SATURN sextile URANUS
Saturn sextile Uranus is generational aspect that implies conditions in society that provide opportunities to expand technological research and development, international economic institutions and trade, and societal structures. Individuals born in this generation may or may not personally participate in activities that broaden societal awareness or enhance technological research according to other factors in their personalities and backgrounds.
HOUSE 6
The sixth house describes your job, daily responsibilities (paid and unpaid), and those who work for or with you. It also represents your health, and physical fitness.
ARIES on 6th HOUSE
Aries ruling the sixth house indicates individuals who concentrate much energy and vitality in their job or daily responsibilities. They may also be inclined to pursue health and physical fitness programs, sports, or animal husbandry. They are likely to have mechanical skills, which makes many of them inventors, surgeons, tailors, machinists, engineers, or builders of one sort or another. Those who possess managerial skills are tireless administrators who know how to extract maximum efficiency from their staffs. Preferring an active working environment, there is also the strong possibility they will deliberately choose a job associated with an element of risk, or work for a security force or branch of the armed services. Working for, or running a company involved in manufacture or sale of weapons, knives, explosive materials, or fire fighting equipment is also well within the potential occupations of those with a sixth house Aries influence. They are prone to high blood pressure, rashes, fever, headaches, or stress-related ailments.
HOUSE 7
The seventh house relates to marriage and partnership or joint ventures of any kind. It describes how you interact with people and how others tend to regard you. The seventh house is associated with legal matters, negotiations, contracts, and all open confrontations, pleasant as well as adversarial.
TAURUS on 7th HOUSE
Taurus ruling the seventh house indicates individuals who are apt to be outgoing and people-oriented. Without constant exposure to others they can become withdrawn and unmotivated because they depend on such interactions for inspiration and feedback. They may prefer doing most things in partnership, and their success in life is often a direct result of their cooperation with or through the influence of other people. The influence of Taurus implies a strong element of trust in their association with others, and that they derive much pleasure and enjoyment from marriage. It also indicates that marriage, business partnerships, and relations with others in general, should be fairly stable and enduring. The negative potential for Taurus on the seventh house indicates individuals who have difficulty finding the right partner, as well as those who possess antisocial attitudes or engender such feelings in others. The influence of Taurus on the seventh house implies individuals who want to use whatever people skills they possess in a practical way. As a result, many of them become lawyers, contract negotiators, agents or counselors.
MARS in 7th HOUSE
Mars in the seventh house indicates those who put much vitality and energy into relationships, marriage, business partnerships or joint ventures, and dealing with other people in general. They enthuse and encourage others to be sure, but they also rely on others to engender and constantly rekindle energy and vitality within themselves. Being cut off from the stimulation of interactions, or working alone can be detrimental to developing motivations they need to get things done. Marriage or business partnerships may not always be easy to establish. Their energy and activities may be sapped or overshadowed by an overly aggressive partner. They are apt to encounter or initiate many open confrontations. Negative factors in their personality or background can mean argumentative and even violent encounters, and loss of a partner through accident. These individuals may seek a career in law or contract negotiation, or marry someone who works in these areas.
VENUS in 7th HOUSE
Venus in the seventh house indicates outgoing, people-oriented individuals who are diplomatic, charming, and polite to everyone they meet. Without constant exposure to other people, these individuals can become withdrawn and unmotivated, because consciously or subconsciously, they depend on such interactions for inspiration and feedback. However needful they may be for the company of others, it usually has to be on a one-to-one basis, since many of these individuals dislike waiting in line and hate to get caught in crowds. They have the capacity to derive much pleasure and enjoyment from marriage, though the mere presence of Venus in the seventh house is no guarantee of wedded bliss. Whether or not they are married, these individuals are likely to achieve some of their greatest successes through partnerships and cooperative efforts of one kind or another. The negative potential includes difficulty in finding the right partner, and lack ability to cooperate or get along with others.
VENUS conjunct MARS
Venus conjunct Mars indicates those with an aura of warmth and vitality that lies close to the surface. It is very attractive to others though they may not exactly realize what it is that makes these individuals so appealing. They are oriented toward careers or aggressively pursuing other important goals. As a rule they can usually be counted on to have an enthusiastic response to sexual encounters. This aspect also implies those with either talent for art or the appreciation of it.
HOUSE 8
The eighth house is related to taxes, debt, death, legacies, and the income you receive through marriage or business partner(s). It describes your resourcefulness, and your ability to develop and use material assets as well as personal skills and abilities. The eighth house also indicates sexual attitudes and behavior.
GEMINI on 8th HOUSE
Gemini ruling the eighth house indicates individuals who are apt to give a great deal of thought to the occult and arcane matters, psychological and psychic phenomena, and planes of existence beyond physical reality. They are also likely to be involved in such mundane things as stock market and commodity investments, tax matters, insurance, or in handling the financial affairs of others. The negative potential includes individuals who encounter unfortunate circumstances in these matters, or who get endlessly bogged down in details regarding them. It also indicates they may give more time and attention to thinking or talking about sexual matters than to physical participation. There may have to be mental as well as physical stimulation for these individuals to experience satisfactory sexual relations. Many of them can be secretive or engage in secret communications. They are apt to be quite brief and to the point. However when their interest is stimulated, they can engage in endless discussion and analysis, often exhausting the energies and informational resources of those around them.
MERCURY in 8th HOUSE
Mercury in the eighth house indicates those apt to give a lot of thought to the mysteries of life, and likely to come up with some ideas of their own on this subject. Many have interest in the occult and other arcane matters, psychological and psychic phenomena, and planes of existence beyond physical reality. Mercury's influence also leads to interest or work in the stock market and commodity investments, tax or insurance matters, or in handling the financial affairs of others. The negative potential of this Mercury house position can mean unfortunate circumstances related to any of these matters, or being constantly bogged down in details regarding them. It also indicates that they may spend more time talking and thinking about sex than they do participating in it. Satisfactory sexual experiences may require mental as well as physical stimulation. Expressing their ideas and opinions is not apt to be a way of merely passing the time, and they may be secretive regarding information or knowledge they possess. They are serious-minded and do not enjoy pointless small talk, though they do not always resist the temptation to engage in interesting gossip.
SUN in 8th HOUSE
Sun in the eighth house indicates those whose ego is bound to their sense of self-worth. Having little if any urge for self-promotion for its own sake, they do things to satisfy themselves, not to impress others. They may have talent for handling resources and material assets. No matter what they gain from other sources, it is the development and use of their own talent and skills that give them the independence and success they desire. They tend to look deeper, to go beyond the obvious, and to explore the mysteries of man and nature. Family connections or legacies, as well as the absence of these things, can play a significant part in the shaping of their life and desires.
SUN opposite JUPITER
Sun opposite Jupiter indicates individuals who either promise more than is possible, or are victims of others who do this to them; situations that lead to disappointment and failed relationships until they gain maturity and experience to help lessen the potential. If they cannot avoid the tendency to set unattainable goals, they end up accomplishing nothing. Overestimation, overindulgence and exaggeration are the inherent traps associated with this aspect.
SUN square SATURN
Sun square Saturn indicates those likely to be quite successful in life, if only because they have learned how to handle the obstacles in their paths that nearly always seem to show up. Overnight success is not the rule here, but success usually is. They may have great expectations of themselves and confidence in what they can do, but disappointments can cause them to develop low expectations about others or what others will do. They are ambitious and ready to try anything to obtain their goals.
HOUSE 9
The ninth house describes higher education, advanced training, publishing, publicity, advertising, politics, foreign travel, foreign studies, religious and philosophical views and activities, and cultural pursuits. It relates to court decisions, a second marriage, and in-laws. To a certain extent the ninth house also describes the job or health of your mother.
CANCER on 9th HOUSE
Cancer ruling the ninth house indicates strong emotional identification with higher learning whether or not they get a degree, with cultural pursuits whether or not they have special talent, with publishing whether or not they are writers, with travel whether or not they go anywhere, with religion whether or not they are religious, or with politics whether or not they ever run for public office. The emotional identification they develop is also likely to leave them vulnerable not only to the influence of others but to extremes in thinking and behavior with regard to these areas. Cancer's influence presents the possibility they will reside near a university, church, theater, or museum, or become educated in a foreign country. It also suggests their mothers may be of foreign birth or of a different race or culture than their fathers.
HOUSE 10
The tenth house describes your career and other long-range goals, public reputation, superiors and those in authority. It also relates to your father and his influence in your life.
LEO on 10th HOUSE
Leo ruling the tenth house indicates those with strong egos that must find expression in some public manner. There is potential that the father plays a pivotal role in shaping their destinies. They may, for example, be given special strength or assistance from this parent. Even in the case of loss or absence of the father, it does not have to be a negative factor since it can also have the effect of making them stronger and able to push forward. Other possibilities include the fact that they may have responsibility for their fathers or bear a close physical resemblance to him. The potential of Leo's influence suggests that they will seek to attain positions of great honor or authority, or lead public lives as actors, politicians, lectures, and spokespersons. They may work for themselves or occupy an elevated position in the company that employs them. Many of these individuals find it difficult to remain content solely with home and family. Even those who lovingly (and efficiently) manage family responsibilities will also seek to accomplish their personal goals.
HOUSE 11
The eleventh house rules friendships, organizations to which you belong, and income derived from self-employment or career (as opposed to wages earned from a job). It relates to the role you play in the lives of others as child, parent, lover, spouse, friend, social or business associate. The eleventh house also describes your hopes and aspirations and capacity for happiness.
VIRGO on 11th HOUSE
Virgo ruling the eleventh house indicates those who use friends and acquaintances as sounding boards and inspiration for their thoughts and ideas. They are also apt to be involved in fraternal associations and societies, playing active roles by holding office or serving on various committees. They are the ones likely to write or publish the newsletters or official communications of the organizations to which they belong. Their friends are apt to include those who are in the field of health and social services, as well as teachers, secretaries, clerks, writers, artists, designers, and those who are mechanically inclined. They will have more acquaintances than close friends, which may or may not have to do with the fact that many of their contacts are based on mental rapport or for practical purposes rather than emotional commitments. The negative potential of VirgoÕs eleventh-house influence includes the possibility of being too critical of friends, being taken advantage of by friends, antisocial attitudes, and that they are too eccentric in their ideas or communication. The positive side of VirgoÕs influence is the willingness to accept responsibility for friends.
HOUSE 12
The twelfth house describes the private and hidden side of life; your subconscious mind, dreams, the past, and those who wish you harm or work against your interests. The twelfth house relates to sorrow, disappointment, loss, solitude or confinement, hidden fears and worry. It also has connection with the job or health of your marriage or business partner.
LIBRA on 12th HOUSE
Libra ruling the twelfth house indicates individuals who can be extremely sensitive when it comes to relationships. This includes not just their own feelings but how they perceive or understand the feelings of others. They may, for example, have uncanny instincts concerning the subtle aspects of handling relationships that may not be obvious even to those with whom they share such relationships. The negative potential can mean disappointment or sorrow connected with relationships, and partnerships in particular. A lack of-self confidence can mean the tendency to like or even fall in love with anyone who pays them the slightest attention. Relationships can become a trap in other ways. They may become victims of those who threaten "suicide or worse", or, the reverse can also be true and they are the ones to use this destructive ploy in order to hold on to those who threaten to abandon them. The positive side of this influence is the possibility of artistic and musical talent. Their marriage partners may be employed in areas that involve the law, art, music, or the fashion or beauty industry.
