Musings of a Spiritual Warrior
23 December 1999
Christmas is just two days away as I write this. The weather is splendid in Southern California, making it difficult to believe it is late December. At lunch, the sun was shining brightly and it must have been at least 75 degrees. Last night the moon was bigger and brighter than normal ... at least it appeared so. The full moon rose around 5 PM and was visible until nearly 6 AM this morning, so it was literally up all night. Perhaps this is contributing to my mental states of late.
I'm still flying high ... barely grounded as I've been for several weeks. It is curious that December has been a particularly productive time for consciousness to express through this vessel. Perhaps that is because December is the month with the shortest days and I'm very much a night person. I just find it easier to do things at night.
There is still a pent up energy that is ready to explode and start to express. I don't know what form it will take or when it will be released, but I can feel it there just out of my reach. I'm excited about life, and about the possibilities that lie ahead. Change is in the wind again, and the winds are blowing quite often and quite strong. It's interesting that I live in a place in the desert that is particularly windy. There are also winds blowing in my mind ... moving the sands of the desert to and fro, covering and uncovering various artifacts and structures. Hmm ... so what new discoveries are to be made that lie underneath the moving sands of time? Interesting. Whatever is there is still outside of my site. It is just a matter of time however.
I'm laboring as I write this. My breathing literally stops at times and then resumes sporadically. It's as if I literally forget to breathe. So much for breathing being an autonomous function. There is a sense that the breathing pace somehow allows time to be experienced differently. It is as if by holding my breath I stop the march of time. This breaks time into chunks rather than the smooth continuous manner in which time normally passes. Then again, I don't know how others experience this. Hmm ... that is true about so many areas of life. There is a lot I don't know about how others experience things in life. We think that others are "like" us and experience things in similar ways. However, this is not necessarily the case at all.
How much of our reality is truly common -- experienced in a similar manner? Good question. As humans, there is a common experience of reality, but it is limited to how the basic machinery works; it does not extend to how the person applies meaning to their experience. Even if we focus on smaller groups (e.g. people in LA, engineers, fast food workers, teenagers), the commonality of experience is limited. Most of our reality is constructed in our heads. Where we apply our attention and focus is the biggest factor. This is very different, even for individuals in small groups. Given this, how are we able to find sufficient common ground to relate on anything? Another good question. In the work world, there is a commonality of purpose that provides the basis. In social interactions, there may be a commonality of interest or focus, or simply a desire to be with and interact with one another. I still have a lot to learn in this area.
What do I wish for the new millenium? Simply, that the vision of Beyond Imagination be given fertile ground in which to plant its seeds that foundations can be built to bridge between the Earth and the castles in the air. I don't ask for much ... just that a New World be born to usher in a New Age on this planet. I am grateful to be incarnated at such a time in the history of mankind and the planet. We are in for the ride of our lives. I can feel it, there, just below the horizon. The dawn of a new age is rapidly approaching. And, there are many awake enough to watch for the new dawn. How many is many? I don't know. But whatever number it is is sufficient. The Age of Aquarius is indeed upon us. We have but to allow it's principal characteristics to take root and impact the world at large. My sense is that this is to occur within my lifetime ... by 2024 at the outside, so many on the planet at this time will be around to witness it and enjoy the blessings it brings. There is a lot of work to do however ... there is no magician or magic wand that can make it so. The biggest hurdle to overcome is lack. The easiest way to overcome lack is with abundance. Abundance is generated by abiding by the principle: Never take more than you give. YES, it is that simple. If each of us were to abide by this, there would always be a surplus.
Expressed in another way ... give all that you are, and take all that you need. This is the social contract we have talked about before. Give all that spirit moves you to give to the best of your abilities and you will be deserving of all that you need. Let spirit ensure that the balance is maintained. At present, this contract exists at a rudimentary level. Spirit draws to us experiences in accord with our beliefs ... respecting our free will to create our reality. We need to make a conscious choice to engage in a social contract for spirit to be able to more directly work through us to meet the higher level needs of all. At present, we haven't even decided as a society that we will ensure people live above the poverty level. This is ridiculous for a society that considers itself advanced. God helps those who help themselves. God helps even more those who help others to help themselves. Taking responsibility for the welfare of others is a highly advanced trait. Enlightened societies benefit from the collective resources of their entire constituency. Keeping people below the poverty line is wasteful of resources. It should be changed, and will be changed when the collective goodwill of the people demand it.
Who speaks for the "collective goodwill of the people"? Good question. It is not clear that anyone does in the present society. Fixing the problems in many cases requires some changes to the economic system ... to how people work and are compensated for that work. We need to rethink issues of supply and demand and think in terms of ensuring adequate supplies to meet needs. This is a major step away from a free market economy to something that establishs an intrinsic value to goods, services, and labor. This is not an easy step to take, but it is a crucial one. It is not a matter of can we do it. It is a matter of do we have the resolve necessary to force the economic system to live up to the ideals of a social contract. The economic system does not own us ... though it seems that it does at present -- it is there to serve us, in whatever manner the society deems to be for the good of society. We don't mean to lose the rights of individuals in this process, nor their responsibilities to serve society in a manner that uses their skills and abilities to the utmost. Society benefits whenever its constituent individuals benefit, and loses whenever its constituent individuals lose. It is up to society to help everyone to be all that you can be, as they say in the Army recruiting commercials. This requires a different mentality then presently permeates the land. Yet, it is one that is within our power to choose and to choose now. We can enact it quickly and effectively. It requires trusting one another enough to establish and abide by a social contract that provides not only a "safety net" but an environment that fosters all of us to be the best we can be.
From each in accord with their abilities, to each in accord with their needs.
We said this many times before. Yes, this is the key principle of communism as an economic system. It is as valid now as when it was created -- though it's instantiations have never been successful at living up to its promise. That does not make it wrong. It just means they screwed up the implementation. The basic contract is valid spiritually. How do I know this? I just do. The truth of it strikes the very core of my being. There is no doubt that it is correct. It is a simple statement of spiritual law and the purpose of each individual. There is a reason that each individual has the abilities that they have. Society needs to provide the framework in which to allow those abilities to express as fully as possible. We do this by being there for one another, and by sharing whom that we are to the degree that we can.
At some level we are ONE; we are not separate individuals. It is time we start acting in a manner consistent with this realization, so that we can see the results of this understanding manifest in our experience. To date, we've only seen isolated individuals acting in a manner consistent with this truth. It is time that we realize that we are all cells in the same body, and that we have a responsibility to perform a function within that body that provides service to the functioning of the whole. Our purpose gets revealed by our going inside to find it. Actually, our purpose is simply to be the best that we can be under whatever circumstances we find ourselves in.
BE HAPPY AND CREATE WELL! In Peace, Love, and Light,
