Musings of a Spiritual Warrior

5 April 2005

Still struggling with the issue of at what do I choose to toil.  Above all else, work should be interesting and challenging.  If it is not, then we are doing the wrong things.  There seem to be two choices.  Work within the current environment to transform it ... or find a new environment that is more conducive to the pursuit of happiness.  Yes, the pursuit of happiness should be an integral part of our work.  After all, we spend over 40 out of 112 waking hours (on average) at work.  That is over 1/3 of our waking life.  Our work should be joyous.  Further, it should be a pleasure that engages us fully.  No, not to the point of exhaustion each day.  There is more to life than work.  But, there should be a high level of fulfillment that comes from what we do.

So, how do we make this happen?  How do we manifest this in our lives?  How do we earn our abundance via doing something or some combination of things that we love to do?  How is such effort to be valued?  How do we determine the worth of efforts done to the best of our ability out of love?  Clearly such efforts are extremely valuable.  But, to whom?  To consciousness definitely, and to those who benefit from the efforts.  But what if those who benefit have no means to pay for what they receive or are unaware of the benefit that has been provided to them?  It seems that the universe keeps an account of this somehow.  Some speak of karmic law being an accounting of this type.  My sense is that there is a spiritual economic system as well.  We are credited for everything beneficial that we do, and debited for anything that we take.  The principle of The Lion King:  never take more than you give, is the secret to abundance for all.  If each of us do this, there will always be a surplus ... and a big surplus at that.  The way to prime the economic pump is to give.  And, what is most important to give is of whom that you are.  Giving of ourselves is the greatest gift of all.  However, this assumes that we have done the work to realise whom that we are.  This is not easy work, but it is essential work.  We do it for the joy of discovering whom that we are.  The discovery is evergoing.  It is literally without end.  Though, as we awaken, we become aware of more and more of whom we are.

But, how do we awaken?  That brought a major shiver thoughout my upper body, then down through my legs and up into my head.  It is not clear that this is something that we can learn to do.  At least, for me, it seems as if it is something that just happens, as if a series of wakeup calls were precisely timed to just happen in my life.  For the most part, for me these seem to correspond with transits of the outer planets (Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto) to my natal chart.  I'm presently in another such period that lasts the bulk of the year.  I'm curious as to what the solar eclipse on my birthday will bring.  Though, that is still three days away.  And, as always, what counts is the present moment.  It is there that we have the power of choice.  It is there that we have the power to alter the course of events by what we think and what we do.  So, what would I do in this moment?  How would I alter my present reality?  What would I create next in my life?  Do I need to decide this, or is it better left as a mystery, to be experienced moment by moment?  Does it truly matter what happens?  Is not the bottom line that life will unfold as it will?  But, what about my will?  Is it not one with The Will now?  Can there be any difference, ever?  Was the dichotomy anything but a phantom of my imagination?

One step at a time.  That is the way that one moves on the path.  We never know in which direction that next step will go until the time comes to take it ... and then, there is no stepping back.  For there is no back to return to.  Ever forward the march of time takes us.  Yes, this too is an illusion that we experience so long as we need this particular experience.  Beyond that we will experience whatever is appropriate for us to experience next.  Trust the process of life as it is unfolding through you and around you.  Life is ever supportive of all of us.

I AM THAT I AM THAT YOU ARE!   Be Happy and Create Well!

LOVE,

Wayne
