"Falling Away"

Shadows steal the warmth and love
that's crept into my soul.
They flow out like an open glove;
no purpose left to dole.

My friends begin to tear away
the visage in my heart.
No longer will the memories stay;
lost feelings do impart.

Who is my only solace
on this forgotten road?
My crystal studded chalice
from which I drink my load.

True notes of glistening solitude
are never to be heard;
Deafning roars, which are remotely crude,
seem to toil our last word.

Wretched talons tear into me
when I think about the world.
For shame that I cannot see
the answer, not yet, unfurled.

So, I drift into epiphany
when conflicting thoughts occur:
I need someone for company
to end my eternal stir.
