How to understand your Bible
Miles Coverdale 1488-1569.

It will help you to understand Scriptures, if you mark not only what is spoken or written, but of whom or to whom, with what words, at what time, where, to what intent, with what circumstances, considering what goes before and what follows after.

Miles Coverdale, was the first man to translate the entire Bible into the English language. While the Bible is the inspired Word of God and is an accurate record of events and sayings of men, we must remember: All Scripture is for me. It is not all addressed to me nor is it written about me.

2Timothy 2:15. Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

William R Newell-1868-1956

You can judge any man's preaching or teaching by this rule :- Is he Pauline? Does his doctrine start and finish according to those statements of Christian doctrine uttered by the Apostle Paul? No matter how wonderful a man may seem in his gifts and apparent consecration if his Gospel is not Pauline, it is not the Gospel; and we might as well get our minds settled at once as to that.

Paul calls the gospel of Jesus Christ: my gospel!

Look at these next few verses, (Romans 11:13) Says, that Paul is our apostle. (Romans 16:25) Tells us that we are established by Paul's Gospel. And the next two very important verses: (2Corinthians 4:3-4) If Paul's gospel is hid it is hid to them that are lost, because the god of this world has blinded the minds of those who do not believe.

Romans 11:13. For I speak to you Gentiles, inasmuch as I am the apostle of the Gentiles, I magnify mine office:

Romans 16:25.
Now to him that is of power to establish you according to my gospel, and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery, which was kept secret since the world began.

Romans 16:26. But now is made manifest, and by the scriptures of the prophets, according to the commandment of the everlasting God, made known to all nations for the obedience of faith:

2Corinthians 4:3. But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost:

2Corinthians 4:4. In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.

Paul's Gospel is, The Gospel of Jesus Christ

(1Corinthians 15:1-4) Is the gospel of our salvation. These verses very clearly tell us that Christ died for our sins, and He was buried then after three nights and three days in the tomb God raised him from the dead according to the Scriptures. (Romans 10:9) Instructs us. (Galatians 2:7-8) says to whom the gospel of the circumcision and the gospel of the uncircumcision was committed.

1Corinthians 15:1-4

v1. Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand

v2. By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain.

v3. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;

v4. And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

Yes, Paul's gospel is to and for the Gentiles, and kings and the children of Israel. God said, Paul is a chosen vessel unto me to bear my name before the Gentiles, and kings and the children of Israel.  Brothers and sisters in Christ we are Gentiles. Paul's Gospel is the gospel of the grace of God, it is our gospel!  All of Paul's writings are personally to and for the church the body of Christ. What is so unique about Paul, first of all Paul is Christ's chosen vessel to bring the gospel of Jesus Christ without the law to the Gentiles, kings and the children of Israel.

"Notice!" In the body of Christ there is no difference between Jew and Gentile, bond and free, male and female. But for the gospel of the kingdom there is quite a difference no Gentiles.

Galatians 2:7. But contrariwise, when they saw that the gospel of the uncircumcision was committed unto me, as the gospel of the circumcision was unto Peter;

Galatians 2:8. (For he that wrought effectually in Peter to the apostleship of the circumcision, the same was mighty in me toward the Gentiles:)

My friend, for a short time God had two gospels and they were definitely different, they were committed to and preached by different  apostles. Peter's gospel is fully under the Law, and Paul's gospel is without the law, but fully under God's Grace. They are not the same.

The Mystery of Christ

Ephesians 3:4. Whereby, when you read, you may understand my knowledge in the mystery of Christ)

On the road to Damascus the Lord Jesus Christ chose, to save the apostle Paul , for the Gentiles, kings and the children of Israel from heaven. Christ reveal the mystery to Paul alone, it had been kept secret since the world began. My friend Paul was not an egotist or a chauvinist as some folks like to say. Paul calls the gospel of Jesus Christ according to the revelation of the mystery, "my gospel"! Therefore, God the Holy Spirit, by inspiration gave Paul these words to use! Why do some folks keep saying Paul is not my pattern, Jesus is my pattern!

Don't they believe God? Look what the Holy Spirit says, in 1Timothy 1:16, that Paul is our pattern for everlasting life. In 1Corinthians 11:1 follow Paul... My friend the only way we can please God: Is by faith, believe what He says! The Lord Jesus chose the apostle Paul to be the master builder of His new church, called the body of Christ which is made up of Jew and Gentile alike, it is the church of the one new man. Therefore Christ's gospel of the grace of God is Christ's new gospel for this new dispensation of the grace of God.

A really good reason for Paul calling the gospel that he preached, my gospel, is to show the difference between the gospel of the grace of God and the gospel of the kingdom!  Don't forget, all Scripture is God breathed, therefore God the Holy Spirit is the author of all Scripture.

Christ Revealed the Mystery to Paul alone!

The revelation of the mystery teaches us that those who believe's Paul's gospel of Jesus Christ are baptized into the body of Christ by the Holy Spirit without a drop of water. Therefore we are saved and sealed by the Holy Spirit. You can not take Jesus into your heart, you must believing the gospel, 1Cor.15:1-4 then you are saved. When we believe the gospel, the Lord Jesus will takes up residence in our hearts. But, He gave us the apostle Paul as a pattern for this new dispensation of the grace of God. This puts all of mankind on the same level. In other words in the body of Christ there is neither Jew nor Gentile, rich nor poor, male nor female, we are all one in Christ.

In the dispensation of the grace of God, there is no difference between Jew and Gentile. Therefore all who believe in the Lord Jesus Christ's finished work on the cross; are baptized by the Holy Spirit and placed into the body of Christ. Therefore God says, if any man be in Christ he is a new creation, old things are passed away, and all things are become new. Have you ever wondered why God would tell us to follow the apostle Paul as he followed the Lord Jesus Christ?  Why not just say follow Christ? Because Christ came only to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.

We are not the house of Israel, therefore we need a different path so we follow Paul as he follows Christ from heaven. Have you read 2Corinthians 4:3-4, where it says, if Paul's gospel is hid it is hid to them that are lost? In all truthfulness when Paul says, our gospel he is speaking of the gospel given to him alone by the Lord Jesus Christ in heaven, for the Gentiles, and kings and the children of Israel. My friend all of the apostle Paul's writings come directly from the risen and glorified Lord Jesus Christ in heaven; every word is Holy Spirit inspired.

And furthermore the apostle Peter verifies that Paul's gospel is Scripture in 2 Peter 3:15-16. For that reason I can not over state the importance of adhering to Paul's gospel. I hope you can understand what I am saying? Or do you know a better way for the Holy Spirit to say we should follow Paul's gospel? Paul said, if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost. Paul's gospel is not a part of the gospel of the kingdom that the Lord Jesus and the twelve preached. The Holy Spirit admonishes us to follow Paul, as he, followed the Lord Jesus Christ in heaven as opposed to His earthly ministry. That is why God says, Paul is our pattern for everlasting life.

When I first read 2Corinthians 4:3, it really shook me up, because most of the folks I know almost completely ignore the apostle Paul. Then I read 2Corinthians 4:4, and it really opened my eyes. Those who ignore the apostle Paul, the god of this world has blinded their minds to the truth.

Look!...Peter said, that Paul's Gospel is Scripture

2Peter 3:15-16

v15. and regard the patience of our Lord as salvation; just as also our beloved brother Paul, according to the wisdom given him, wrote to you,

v16. as also in all his letters, speaking in them of these things, in which are some things hard to understand, which the untaught and unstable distort, as they do also the rest of the Scriptures, to their own destruction.

For the dispensation of the grace of God, the Lord Jesus Christ gave the gospel of the grace of God to the apostle Paul for the Gentiles and kings and the children of Israel. But, look who Peter said, twist and distorted the gospel in his day; the untaught and the unstable the very same folks that twist and distort it today, small wonder, wouldn't you say?

Romans 2:16. For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first and also to the Greek.

For today the gospel of Jesus Christ comes from the pin of the apostle Paul alone. I pray that God will grant you that understanding!  Therefore, study to show thyself approved unto God a workman that need not be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

My Gospel the Mystery

The phrase according to my gospel is used three times in Scripture. Three other times Paul called it our gospel. But, keep in mind, when Paul says our gospel, he is referring to the mystery gospel that the Lord Jesus Christ gave to him alone for all mankind. Paul's mystery gospel is not part of the gospel of the kingdom that the twelve taught. If you want to read the mystery gospel of Jesus Christ according to the revelation of the mystery, read Romans through Philemon because the mystery gospel is found nowhere else in Scripture! The mystery gospel was a progressive revelation given to the apostle Paul alone.

Paul put the mystery gospel of the grace of God in print for all mankind. He made it known to all that received the mystery gospel; that it comes directly from the risen and glorified Lord Jesus in heaven. The Lord Jesus Christ chose Paul to present His mystery gospel before the Gentiles, kings and the children of Israel. Once again Paul's mystery gospel is the preaching of Jesus Christ according to the revelation of the mystery that was kept secret hid in the mind of God since the world began. The Lord Jesus had twelve apostles and the nation of Israel that He could have used to save the Gentiles but, Israel would not believe.

Therefore, Paul an apostle, not of the twelve, chosen out side of the nation Israel, thereby putting a separation or partition between the gospel of the kingdom, and the mystery gospel of the grace of God. Now, Christ's message of salvation has changed, He has turned to the Gentiles through the apostle Paul without the law. Furthermore Christ never commissioned the twelve to preach themystery gospel of the grace of God. If the twelve would have won all Israel, then, they could have preach the gospel of the kingdom to every creature. The gospel of kingdom was Christ's earthly message to the Jews only, but the nation of Israel would not believed.

Our gospel is the mystery gospel of the grace of God that Christ gave Paul By revelation. The Lord Jesus taught the twelve the gospel of the kingdom when He walked with them here on earth. But that gospel, was to none but the lost sheep of the house of Israel, under the law. Because of the law, Christ could have nothing to do with the Gentiles during His earthly ministry, the Gentiles were aliens from the commonwealth of Israel; they were without God in the world and they had no hope. From heaven God chose Paul to be His spokesman for this new dispensation of the grace of God, therefore Paul is the apostle of the Gentiles, he is our apostle.

Paul's ministry is one of reconciliation, directly from the risen and glorified Lord Jesus Christ in heaven. I hope you can see that Paul's gospel is the Lord Jesus Christ's heavenly message to all of mankind. For that reason it is the only gospel for the world today. All of the other Scriptures were given for our learning, only Paul's message is for our appropriation. Paul tells us that he did not receive his gospel from man. He received it directly from the risen and glorified Lord Jesus Christ in heaven.

The Lord Jesus Christ gave the apostle Paul a different and better gospel for the Gentiles; it is the gospel of the grace of God. The Holy Spirit inspired Paul to call the gospel that he preached, "my gospel". Do not be deceived Paul's gospel is not the same gospel that Christ and the twelve preached while He was here on earth. They preached the gospel of the circumcision, and that gospel has been set aside to await the tribulation. Now, the gospel that Paul preaches is for all mankind, and it is pure grace. God the Holy Spirit says, we do not know Christ after the flesh, which is His earthly ministry.

Paul's gospel is not the same as that of the twelve.

I believe that in order to separate the gospel of the grace of God from the gospel of the kingdom; God put a lack of understanding on the part of the twelve. But God gave the twelve just enough understanding to know that Paul's gospel was Scripture. God did not want the twelve to pervert Paul's gospel. The gospel of the kingdom was not for Paul's converts. Because, it was under the law, for the Jews only, but due to their unbelief it was quickly fading away.

Don't be confused! Before the apostle Paul's conversion and appointment as the apostle of the Gentiles; the Gentiles had no hope they were lost, they had no part in the covenants of promise made with the house of Israel. Look at Ephesians 2:12-13.

Ephesians 2:12-13.

v12. That at that time ye were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world:

v13. But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ.

The twelve failed to win all Israel!

We know that the twelve failed to win all Israel to Christ, therefore their program and the nation was set aside in unbelief and the Lord Jesus Christ chose a new apostle for the Gentiles, kings and the children of Israel. God saved the apostle Paul outside of the nation of Israel and appointed him as the apostle of the Gentiles. Don't forget, the Lord Jesus Christ is our Savior. But, He said, the apostle Paul is our pattern for everlasting life. Therefore we should become completely familiar with all of Paul's writings. But, we should not neglect the other Scriptures, because they are for our learning.

2Corinthians 4:3-4, are two verses that we almost always ignore, some so called Christians stay in the Old Testament and the four Gospels. For some strange reason they seem to avoid the apostle Paul like the plague. But don't forget, God the Holy Spirit tells us that Paul is our apostle and we will be rewarded by adhering to Paul's teachings. If you do not understand nor believe these next verses, look closely at verse four, it will tells you why!

Romans 2:16. In the day when God shall judge the secrets of men by Jesus Christ according to my gospel.

2-Corinthians 4:3-4.

v3. But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost:

v4. In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.

What Gospel?

A very good question would be: What gospel is Paul talking about; is it the kingdom gospel or is it some other gospel? It is, some other gospel, it is the gospel of Jesus Christ according to the revelation of the mystery it is the gospel of the grace of God. It is the only gospel for the entire world today!

2Timothy 3:16-17

v16. All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:

v17. That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.

So,which gospel should we follow? It is perfectly clear to me and hopefully to you as well, we should follow the gospel of the grace of God that Paul calls my gospel. Because it is the gospel of Jesus Christ according to the revelation of the mystery that was kept secret hid in the mind of God since the world began. When Paul says lost, frankly, he means exactly that, because if Paul's gospel is hid from you, you are not saved you are lost. But we still hear folks saying, Paul's writings should not even be in our Bible. If you are a person of that persuasion may I caution you again? Paul has the only message by which we can be saved.

There is no salvation for a Gentile in any other Scriptural writings, only Paul writes to the Gentiles. Did you know that Christ's earthly ministry was to the Jews to fulfil the promises made to the fathers? The gospel of the kingdom did not include the Gentiles. This changed only after Christ's death, burial, resurrection and ascension back to the Father. Only then could Christ send salvation to the Gentiles, but it was apart from the law of Moses. According to Ephesians 2:12-13, without Paul's gospel of the grace of God we would still be lost and in our sin. Therefore if Paul's gospel is hid it is hid to them that are lost. (2Corinthians 4:3-4).

Remember what Peter said, 2Peter 3:16, all of Paul's epistles are Scripture. You might want to look at 2 Peter 3:15-16 again. 2Corinthians 4:3-4 calls for a more careful examination, of what we believe because our knowledge of Paul's gospel is imperative. I ask you, is Paul's gospel hid from you?  If so ask the Lord to open the eyes of your understanding that you might believe Paul's gospel then read 2Corinthians 4:3-4 again. Can you see any other way to read these verses? This message is crystal clear. You may also want to read Paul's basic gospel yourself again and again...: 1Corinthians 15:1-4; it is the gospel by which we are saved.

Verse one tells us Paul delivered this gospel to us, also where he got it and what it stands for.  Then verse two tells us we are saved by this gospel. Verse three tells us that Paul was instructed to tell us that Christ died for our sins, according to the Scriptures and verse four finalizes what we must believe to be saved. My friend, Paul's gospel is definitely not the gospel of the kingdom; that so many so-called Christians cling to. The gospel of the kingdom is not ours. Verses three and four tells us that Paul got the gospel, from the Lord Jesus Christ in heaven. Here we find the reason for his death burial and resurrection.

Christ died for all the sins of the world. The apostle Paul was instructed to teach the Gentiles that Christ died and that He was buried, and that He arose again after three nights and three days in the tomb, then after 40 days He ascended back to the Father to make intercession for us day and night. The more often you read these two verses 2Corinthians 4:3-4 for your self the sooner and better you will understand them.

Paul warns us not to be Ignorant!

Paul urges us not to be ignorant, which is untaught or unlearned and we should not be deceived. Because in the dispensation of the Grace of God, none of mankind can be saved through the gospel of the kingdom. God gave us one baptism, and He gave us one apostle, and He gave us one gospel preached by the apostle Paul and his helpers it is the only gospel for our salvation and the salvation of the world today. The kingdom gospel has been set aside to await the tribulation.

1Thessolonians 1:5. For our gospel came not unto you in word only, but also in power, and in the Holy Spirit, and in much assurance; as ye know what manner of men we were among you for your sake.

1Thessolonians 1:10. And to wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead, even Jesus, which delivered us from the wrath to come.

2Thessolonians 2:14. Whereunto he called you by our gospel, to the obtaining of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Romans 15:4. For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope.

Paul's Gospel

In previous verses we found Paul's basic gospel set forth, in 1Corinthians 15:1-4. This is the only gospel that brings salvation to the whole world today. It brings salvation to the Jews with out the Mosaic law. Therefore without Paul's gospel, Jews or Gentiles rich or poor, bond or free, male or Female, can not-be saved!  You must understand that without Paul's gospel today you can not be saved!!! Again, Paul's gospel is the gospel of Jesus Christ according to the revelation of the mystery. If taking Jesus into your heart means you believe the gospel of the grace of God that is a good thing. Above all biblical writings in the dispensation of grace believe Paul's.

For a short time two Gospels,

The gospel of the kingdom number one, preached by John the Baptist, Christ and the twelve. This gospel was finally set aside in Acts 28:28 by God to await the tribulation.

(Gospel number two), Is the gospel of Jesus Christ according to the revelation of the mystery, it is the gospel of the grace of God, it is Paul's gospel for the world today. It is also called the gospel of the uncircumcision: Our requirements are simply: believe in the Lord Jesus Christ's finished work on the cross: That He died was buried and He arose again the third day, the other Scriptures tell us that He spent forty days here on earth with His disciples and He was seen of over five hundred at one time before He ascended back to the Father's right hand to make intercession for us, this is what we must believe to be saved.

When Paul says, according to the Scriptures, he is referring to the Old Testament Scriptures. Therefore, we do not neglect the Old Testament, it is for our learning, also it gives us a better understanding of what Paul was talking about, according to the Scriptures.  We are admonished by the Holy Spirit to study the Scriptures and rightly divide the word of Truth. Look at 2Timothy 2:15 it says rightly divide the Word of Truth. Other versions say rightly handle the Word of Truth, to me is not the same as rightly divide the Word of Truth. But use your own judgement. To cut streight is to divide; to handle can mean a lot of different things.

2Timothy 2:15. Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

When we rightly divide the Word of Truth we study the entire Bible separating Paul's writing's from the gospel of the kingdom, and Israel from the church the body of Christ, follow Coverdales template for the rest of the Scriptures. And we can better understand the whole truth of God's Word for today.

Romans 15:4. For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope.

Again according to Romans 15:4 all the other Scriptures are written for our learning, but not for our salvation. The apostle Paul's gospel alone is for our salvation.

The Jewish confession of Faith

The Jews were required to believe the confessions of Peter, John and Martha's listed below for salvation.  Remember a Jew is a Hebrew that keeps the law.

Matthew 16:16 And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.

John 20:31. But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name.

John 11:27. She saith unto him, Yea, Lord: I believe that thou art the Christ, the Son of God, which should come into the world.

Look carefully at these three confessions! Did you see any mention of Christ's death, burial, resurrection and ascension back to the Father for salvation? Peter and Martha did not mention it, because, they had only to believe in His name; that he was who he said, He was, the Son of the living God, and they had to keep the law.

The Confession of faith for the body of Christ the one new man!

I believe in Christ's finished work on the cross. That He died on the cross for my sins, that He was buried then after three nights and three days in the heart of the earth God raised Him from the dead, He ascended back to the Father's right hand to make intercession for you and me day and night. This is Christ's heavenly message through the apostle Paul alone. The requirements were different for the Jews until Acts 28:28, but now we are all the same. Here are several verses, that will help explain what believe on the Lord Jesus Christ means to you and me. Set these verses to memory and you will be better able to deflect the fiery darts of the devil.

1-Corinthians 15:1-4:

v1. Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand;

v2. By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain.

v3. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;

v4. And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

Romans 10:9. That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

Romans 16:25. Now to him that is of power to establish you according to my gospel and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery, which was kept secret since the world began.

Titus 2:11. For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men,

Romans 11:13. For I speak to you Gentiles, inasmuch as I am the apostle of the Gentiles, I magnify mine office:

Therefore no one will be excused from the judgement. There is no other Scriptures Old or New Testament that contains the inspired mystery of Jesus Christ until, God revealed it to the apostle Paul, by the risen and glorified Lord Jesus Christ in heaven. Now the mystery gospel belongs to the church, the body of Christ. Look at this next verse:

Deuteronomy 29:29a The secret things belong unto the LORD our God: but those things which are revealed belong unto us and our children for ever...

Therefore the mystery gospel has been revealed to us and it belongs to the church the body of Christ.

Our Doctrine!

2Timothy chapter two and verse eight confirms that Jesus was of the seed of David and that He was raised from the dead according to Paul's gospel. Why does Paul restate all the pertinent old Testament Scriptures for us in his epistles? Personally I believe it is because the Holy Spirit intended to give us the complete gospel for salvation in the writings of the Apostle Paul. God gave us history in the Old Testament; and the four gospels. Paul gave us the gospel of the grace of God in his epistles. Therefore we have the complete gospel for the world today.

We can not say the Old Testament is not for me. Because, Paul quotes nine of the ten commandments for our use, These commandments are the moral code for society, without them there will be chaos. Remember the entire Bible is for our learning, but, Paul's writings are for our appropreation.

Romans 15:4. For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope.

These verses leave us no choice but to follow Paul as he followed the Lord Jesus Christ in heaven. These instructions were given to us after Christ's death, burial, resurrection and ascension back to the Fathers right hand. The ministry of the twelve has been set aside for now, awaiting the tribulation. Then the gospel of the kingdom, will be restored and it will be preached in all the world by 144000 young Jewish missionaries.

The Church, The Body Of Christ Is A New Creation

2 Corinthians 5:16-17

v16. Wherefore henceforth know we no man after the flesh: yea, though we have known Christ after the flesh, yet now henceforth know we him no more.

v17. Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creation: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

One of the biggest questions in all of Christendom today seems to be: How do we follow the Lord Jesus Christ? Sadly the majority of Christendom has chosen to follow Christ in His earthly ministry but that ministry has been set aside. Paul tells us, we do not even know Christ after the flesh which is His earthly ministry. Therefore, neither Jew nor Gentile can have any part in that ministry today. We only know Christ according to the revelation of the mystery and that is, after His death, burial, resurrection and ascension back to the Fathers right hand.

Look! No More Water Baptism!

1 Corinthians 1:17. For Christ sent me not to baptize, but to preach the gospel: not with wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made of none effect.

1Corinthians. 11:1. Be ye followers of me, even as I also am of Christ.

We must not forget, our baptism is without water, it is silent, it is performed by the Holy Spirit, at the moment of salvation, we are all baptized into the body of Christ. This is the ONE Baptism spoken of in Ephesians 4:5 and 1Cor.12:13.

1Corinthians 12:13. For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit.

Ephesians 4:5. One Lord, one faith, one baptism,

Some folks remind us that Paul did baptize some, and that is correct. But, he stopped when the Lord Jesus showed him it was unnecessary. Paul's helpers did not baptize in his place as some folks would have you believe, because water baptism is not for the church the body of Christ.

The reason being, our sins are washed in the blood of Jesus Christ, not in the waters of baptism; the waters of baptism can not wash away sin for today. We are Ambassadors for Christ. But we are not the nation of Israel, nor are we that Royal Priesthood. We must not claim promises made to the fathers, frankly because we are not Jews.

William R. Newell wrote, "if a man's teaching and preaching is not Pauline, it is not the gospel", therefore it is not good news for today. The book of Hebrews tells us that the only way to please God, is by faith. And faith is believing what God says. My friend God says, if Paul's gospel is hid, it is hid to them that are lost. Now is a very good time for a self check. Do you believe Paul's gospel?
