How does the TMDA Blacklist work?

Blacklisting blocks any email from a specific email address. It should only be used if you are receiving unwanted email from a specific email address.

Blacklisting does NOT work well against spammers, since they use a different email address each time they send out spam. Also, since TMDA has to search through your Blacklist for every message that it receives, if the Blacklist gets too long, TMDA bogs down and cannot function properly.

Red Shift recommends that users do not blacklist spam messages from the Pending folder in TMDA. Instead, just delete them. You also have the option of just leaving the messages in the Pending folder, and TMDA will delete them automatically after 21 days.
