Save Money, Go GREEN With Red Shift
By Anita Spigner, Administrative Assistant

Red Shift has gone GREEN!! Take a moment and think of how many checks you write per month. Utilities, cell phone, cable, mortgage and tuition fees are probably just a sample of what you pay. Each bill arrives in an envelope; each envelope contains a statement; each statement requires a check, which requires another envelope, which requires a stamp…. Switch to automatic billing and forget all that. Simply fill out the secure on line form here: https://www.redshift.com/paperlessbilling.php and switch over to paperless billing today!

E-Mail Server Update
By Jeremy Tompkins, Red Shift Systems Administrator

Red Shift is pleased to announce we have recently completed a series of software updates on our E-Mail servers. Red Shift users should notice increased stability and speed when sending and receiving E-Mail through Red Shift’s E-Mail servers.

As part of these updates we are pleased to announce the ability to use port 587 for E-Mail delivery when connecting through a non-Red Shift connection. If you travel, and take a laptop with you, please contact Customer Care for help in switching to the new port to use the Red Shift E-Mail servers. Even if you are just down the street at your favorite wireless hot spot, you can use the new port for reliable E-Mail delivery.

Happy Birthday to Red Shift
By Tony Cricelli, CTO

Red Shift was been in the community for 20 years now! Wow! What a thrilling roller coaster ride it has been from the early days of the Internet, when hardly anyone knew what E-Mail was and could hardly spell URL’s. We at Red Shift are proud to serve our community and are very happy to help other businesses profit from using the Internet.

In the spirit of community, Red Shift has taken up the mantle of supporting CommunityLinks.net. This website has been used by local non-profits to list contact information, calendar of events, general information, etc… If your non-profit is not listed, please feel free to add it to the community links directory.

Save Money on Your Phone Bill with Measured Rate Phone Service
By Chris Rauber, Sales Director

A large number of people are relying more on their cell phones over home phones as their primary contact number. In fact, many people are contemplating the idea of canceling their home phone lines all together. Remember that DSL runs through your home phone lines, and turning off your home phone line means turning off your Internet.

A compromise would be something called a Measured Rate Phone Service through AT&T. A Measured Rate is usually under $10 per month, depending on your area. It limits the amount of calls a residential customer can make without incurring charges, and does without the frills of Caller ID, Long Distance, etc. You wouldn’t want to have this if you use your home phone for the majority of your calls, but it could serve a purpose if you use your cell phone as your primary phone. This way, you can keep your Internet without having to waste your money on phone services you never use.

Before switching to a Measured Rate with AT&T, we encourage you to learn more about how it might affect your service. AT&T: (800) 288-2020.
