If you are interested in doing research or in bringing a class to the reserve, please note the following: Although Big Creek Reserve is a spectacular and special place, there are limitations on how it may be used as a field site. Applicants should read our mission statement to see if their use matches its intent before deciding to apply. Each reservation is reviewed by Reserve staff on a weekly basis. Please apply more than one week in advance of your reservation to ensure your activity is processed by the desired date. The online application process must be completed by following the Reserve Use Application link below. If you are unfamiliar with our application system, please read these directions. NOTE: It is helpful to check the calendar for before choosing a date for your reservation. Applicants should carefully review rules, regulations, and advisory notices and also download our Emergency Instruction Sheets. Print them, and bring them with you when you visit the reserve. They contain important instructions should an emergency occur. If you cannot use the on-line applications web site above, you may also download forms and advisory material from the NRS web site, or, alternatively, contact the reserve manager (telephone: 831-667-2543 or mail to: Big Creek Reserve, Big Sur CA 93920) for further instructions. If you have questions after reviewing the materials or if you have never visited the reserve, we recommend that you email or call the reserve manager at 831-667-2543. At this time you may also discuss the dates of your proposed visit to the reserve, to ensure that space is available. It is important to realize that each visit must be arranged in advance - only in this way can we prevent disturbance to habitats and on-going research. Please also review the Reserve Use Guidelines prepared by the UC Natural Reserve System for all reserves in the system. |
