Some specific things you can do for The Search for Center are expressed at A PLEA FOR HELP. This section is meant to identify new tasks that need to be done so that you can become aware of what is needed and choose to volunteer if you are qualified and interested. The tasks will be numbered in reverse order for easy reference and the newest tasks will be added at the top of the list. Tasks which are completed or which do not require further assistance will be removed from the list.

A second purpose of this section is to identify tasks that someone is already doing but would like to transfer to someone else, either so that they can take on other tasks that they find more interesting or suitable, because they no longer have time for it, or because they simply don't choose to do it anymore.

This is not intended to be an exhaustive list of what can be done ... rather it is a HELP WANTED list to seek volunteers to do things that we, collectively, feel need to be done.

Description:The volume of material at the Beyond Imagination site makes it difficult for visitors to find what they might be looking for. It would be helpful if the works were indexed in some manner and if search capabilities could be developed and made available that would permit the visitor to quickly find specific passages that relate to the keywords or search criteria that is of interest and quickly move from one relevant passage to the next.

Schedule: Whenever it is reasonable to provide this.

Resources/Skills: Familiarity with building search capabilities for web sites that would provide the services described.

NEW [97-4] TITLE: New Home for The Search for Center Newletter

Description:Determine requirements for moving The Search for Center Newletter to its own Web Site. Presently everything is located in a subdirectory of my personal Beyond Imagination site. The desire is to move everything to a location controlled by the Board of Directors that permits the various newsletter sections to be generated and worked on by a number of people. "Requirements" should include what files need to be hosted where, how much space is needed, what kind of web site is appropriate, what specific services should be provided from the web site, how configuration management will occur, who needs what kind of access to what files, etc ...

Schedule: NLT Aug 97 for creation of new site and relocation of all pages.

Resources/Skills: Web site creation and administration, knowledge of various functions and services that can be provided from web sites.

NEW [97-3] TITLE: Turning Beyond Imagination and The Search for Center into non-profit spiritual/educational foundations.

Description:This person or group of people (as required) would take on the task of legally making Beyond Imagination and The Search for Center non-profit spiritual/educational foundations or whatever category of organization makes the most sense given our purpose and the kinds of activities we support and participate in. The first step would be to identify what options are available and what is involved in achieving them so that the Board of Directors has a basis for making a decision.

Schedule: ASAP, but whenever it is feasible to do this. We need this in place to manage any funds/resources associated with our endeavors. Until then, we are essentially limited to providing volunteer effort to various activities.

Resources/Skills: Legal expertise. Familiarity with forming non-profit organizations.

Description:Editors/Publishers are needed to transform material given by SPIRIT to the World at the Beyond Imagination site into hardcopy works (books, pamphlets) that can be sold to the community to serve as a source of funds for various projects sponsored by The Search for Center.

Schedule: ASAP, but whenever anyone is moved to do it.

Resources/Skills: Editing, publishing, marketing/sales of metaphysical material, and wharehousing/distribution.

NEW [97-1] TITLE: Board of Directors for The Search for Center

Description:This board of directors will be responsible for directing the activities of The Search for Center, including the publishing of the monthly newsletter. This involves reviewing inputs from the community each month, deciding what inputs should be included in what sections, deciding when new sections should be created, deciding when old sections should be deleted, and editing material (as needed). It is expected that at some point in the future, inputs to the newsletter each month will exceed what can be included in the newsletter each month. This board will have the authority to decide what will be included and what cannot be included. Further, this board will be responsible for the overall direction, goals, and objectives that The Search for Center is moving toward and for obtaining the resources necessary to pursue these effectively. This includes finding volunteers for working all the various sections and projects, and resources for hosting the work of The Search for Center. At some point, this is expected to grow to include not only WWW space, but one or more physical CENTERS.

Schedule: NLT Aug 97 for board of directors for the Newsletter.

Resources/Skills: Collectively, the board will need people with one of more of the following: web site management, editing, layout, advertising, leadership, quality assessment, vision, community involvement, people skills, perseverance, creativity, enthusiasm, commitment to make a difference, and willingness to provide feedback. The number of directors is TBD. There should probably be at least three but there may be as many as twelve or so depending on the level of interest and how the workload is to be partitioned.

We don't believe that people can effectively serve The Search for Center as a member of the Board of Directors without this level of commitment.
